Apple Orchard

We took a trip to the local Apple Orchard this weekend and had a great time. We took a hayride out to the orchard and Carter got to pick two apples. He really liked that. I had to laugh because he asked for a ladder so that he could get apples from the top of the tree:)

They also had pony rides there, so Carter got to ride a pony.

He loved sitting on the tractor and he even looks like a little farmer with his overalls on.

We met some friends at the Orchard and these are some of their kids.

New Swingset

Jeremy decided to build Carter a swingset and after 1 week, the swingset was complete! Carter loves it. He was a little intimidated by it at first, but now we can't get him off of it.

Music Class

We signed Carter up for Music Class at the Y and he loves it. He wasn't too sure the first class, so he sat on the couch. But now he sits in the center of the circle singing and dancing:)

On one of the rainy days we decided to go to the Aquarium.

They had some pretty neat starfish and stingrays to touch.

We back to the Outer Banks again this year with friends. 10 adults and 7 kids to be exact:) We had a great time! Carter loved vacation:)

After several months of asking for a dog and a cat, Carter finally agreed to a fish. After several hours of trying to come up with names, we all decided on Oscar.

Look how proud he was of little Oscar!

I'm sad to say that after only 10 days of being with us, Oscar passed away, or "passed gas" as Carter tells everyone. Surprisingly enough, Carter took the news very well. He gladly flushed Oscar down the toilet and waved bye-bye. We hope to be replacing Oscar very soon.

We took a trip up to Jeremy's Aunt Joan and Uncle Jeremy's this summer and Carter had his 1st real smore experience.
He wasn't quite sure what to think of it at first.

Carter has become quite the little fish this summer. We swim at the Y at least once a week and took a trip to Splash Universe with friends and he LOVED it!

As you can see here, his favorite part is the water slide:)

Cedar Point

We went to Cedar Point last year, but Carter was only 16 months old and not walking, so I doubt he remembered it, but I'm sure he remembers this year. Everytime he sees the commercial for Cedar Point on TV, he asks to go.

We went downtown to see the fireworks and the firemen let Carter sit in the fire truck. He was so excited!! Pay no attention to the outfit..we dressed him in his jammies because they were so late and then realized we better put shoes on.

He wasn't to sure about the fireworks. He kept saying "is it ok, Mommy?" and holding onto his balloon on a stick for dear life.

Carter's 1st haircut

After 26 months, we decided to get Carter's 1st haircut. The thing he was the most upset about was the cape. He did better than me...I cried because I thought we'd lose the curls in the back that we got so many comments on.

When all was said and done, he ended up with even more curls than before. Some days his curls are tight like mine and other days it's got a nice wave to it. He now gets hit haircut once a month and is a champ!

Summer Toys

Jeremy decided to buy Carter his first foam airplane. As you can see, it was as big as he was. Carter loved every minute of flying the plane. Mostly he loved flying it into me:(

Maybe that's what Jeremy is telling him here. I can just hear him now. "Crash your plane into Mommy"

Unfortunately our plane's life was short lived and he is now in a landfill. I guess the age requirements on toys are correct.

Next up was the 4 wheeler. Jeremy took Carter shopping one day while I was gone and they came home with this. Usually I take him shopping to the $1 store and this is what Daddy buys him.....

On Jeremy's birthday this year we took Carter to the Toledo Zoo! It's amazing to see the difference in his interest one year later. He loved everything about the zoo. His favorites are the Gorillas.

I can't believe that my little guy is 2 years old already!!! Where has the time gone. Carter is doing great and is more fun each and every day. He amazes me with the things that he says and does and I just love him to pieces. We've definitely had our share of the "terrible twos" but at the end of the day, I wouldn't change a thing. Even when he does bad things, I still laugh and just love him to pieces. For example, the other day, I asked him to pick up his toys and he looked at me, very seriously, and said "or I'll just go sit in the corner then". He's definitely not afraid of time out...which could be a bad thing!

We're finally settled in our new house and things are slowly starting to get back to normal. Ok, so I guess it's been awhile since I've updated my blog. Sorry about that. All is well here, I can't believe that Carter is going to be 2 at the end of this month. He is doing wonderful. He sings, dances and speaks in full sentences. We have to be careful though, because he is a little parrot. We found out that we were moving back to Toledo. Jeremy will be managing the Toledo store, so now we're in the process of packing. Carter and I are still in Michigan and Jeremy is in Toledo.

My baby isn't a baby anymore

Everyone told me that this day would come. I didn't think it would be this soon though. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. My little baby is going to be two in almost 2 months!! Not only is he walking, talking and RUNNING...he's coloring, painting, counting to ten and recognizes most of the letters of the alphabet. As sad as I am about him not being a baby, I'm so looking forward to what the future holds for this incredible little man!

Auto Show

For as long as I can remember, my Dad always took me to the Auto Show. Even after he passed away, Jeremy took me every year. We decided to keep up the tradition once we had Carter. We took him with Aunt Jeannie and Uncle John for the first time last year and he didn't really notice. Although, Uncle John said that Carter was quite the chick magnet:)

This year, Carter was MOBILE!! I never thought I would do the "kid leash" thing, but I"m glad I did. Carter looked at EVERY car. When we walked into Cobo, he said "OH WOW!" and his eyes lit up like I've never seen. He said "green one, blue one". He got into a Lexus and said oh wow! One car he got in and the music came on. He looked at Jeremy and said "it's singing Daddy".

Needless to say, Carter had a great time and asks about the auto show every day. I'm sure my Dad is smiling up in heaven.

Whipped Cream!

One of Carter's favorite foods for breakfast is waffles. He noticed that Jeremy put whipped cream on his one day and asked for some of Daddy's and has insisted on "crene" as he calls it everyday since. He even asked for "crene" for his chicken the other day.

A place called Smart Play was offering free art classes for toddlers this month. Carter, Jeremy and I went and checked it out and really enjoyed it. They also offer music, language and many other classes. We may enroll Carter in a few next year.

Like most toddlers now, Carter's new best friend is Elmo. Elmo Live came to Toledo recently, so we took Carter to his first stage performance. He really enjoyed it and he kept telling us that he wanted to touch Elmo and couldn't understand why he couldn't.

It's so amazing to see these things through a child's eyes.

Carter has been very fascinated with the potty lately. Anytime he hears the potty flush, he runs to see who's using the potty. He even brings us diaper and wipes when he thinks he needs to be changed. Just recently he's started announcing very loudly that he's pooped. Once he figured out how to sit on the potty he loves it!

This picture is from trick or treating. Carter really enjoyed going to everyone's house. Of course he didn't start saying trick or treat until today, the day after, but oh well. Also, everytime someone went to put candy in his bag, he told them no. I wonder how long that will last???

I can't believe my little bundle of joy is 18 months already. He's so amazing. He's speaking in sentences, singing and finally DONE NURSING:( I realized that I couldn't nurse him forever, so we finally decided to cut him off two days before he turned 18 months and it's gone quite well. Here are a couple of pics from his last photo session. Unfortunately, now that he doesn't want to sit unless he wants to, we have fewer pictures than normal.

The Pumpkin Patch also had a mini petting zoo. Carter really enjoyed the animals. It was so funny because he was trying to tell the animals of the animal sounds that he knew and the sounds that he knew weren't the sounds that those animals made.

A few of his favorite things

I apologize that it's been so long since I've posted. No real excuses, just that I've been busy enjoying the summer with Carter. I thought I'd share with you a few of his favorite things.

He loves buses. He watches the kids get on and off everyday. The mall has a bus ride and as you can see, he is enjoying riding it.

We are very lucky to live across from the lake. Carter goes there just about everyday to play in the sand and feed the ducks.

Grandma and Papa bought Carter this bike and he loves to ride it. He even makes the vroom, vroom sound.

I had to get my teeth cleaned and the Pediatrician said that Carter should get a check up. He was such a big boy. He did fine with sitting in the chair, smiled and said hi to the hygenist and then she wanted to look in there....

She gave him a new "big boy" toothbrush and told him to brush his teeth twice a day. See how well he follows instructions....

We took Carter to the Toledo Zoo while Jeremy was on vacation the week of the 4th of July. He really enjoyed it. He pointed to everything that was big enough for him to see. His favorite things were...The kids. He absolutely loves kids.

We decided to take Carter to Olander Park in Sylvania the first nice day we had. We walked around the pond and then went to the playground. Carter enjoyed the park, he wasn't as crazy about the slide as I thought he would be.

As you can see, he LOVED the swings. He also liked the ducks, he actually says "duh" and then I make the "quack, quack" sound and he cracks up.

7 Months!

I can't believe how quick the time flies. Carter turned 7 months old this week. We're having such a great time with him. He loves to blow bubbles, scream out loud and swim. He's a good eater, in fact he likes to feed himself. He loves to wait at the door and wave when Daddy comes home and he can say "mama" and "dada". We don't know if he's refering to us or not, but we're just going to say so.

He also loves to have his picture taken.
